Thank you for
your interest in QVC. It is because of Vendors like you and the support and
loyalty of our customers that QVC has grown to be the world’s leading electronic
retailer. This section of our Web Site will provide you with the answers to the
most commonly asked questions by prospective QVC Vendors. It is designed to give
you an understanding of what QVC looks for in new products and what it takes to
get your product on air. Please read the entire section before filling out a
product submission.
How do I get my product on
QVC?
To have your product evaluated for possible airing on
QVC, you must submit completed QVC Product Information Sheets with a photo or
brochure of your product. This is how to submit your information.
- Fill out the QVC Product Submittal forms. Print out each completed page,
attach a color photo or brochure and mail it to:
QVC Studio
Park Vendor Relations Mail Stop #128 1200 Wilson Drive West Chester, PA 19380-4262
Upon receipt of your package, a QVC Product Specialist
will review your submission. You will receive notification of the status of
your submission within three weeks of receipt. Please do not send an actual
product sample at this time. We apologize, but due to the volume of product
submissions QVC will not return unsolicited samples submitted for evaluation.
What happens
next?
If your product is of interest to QVC, you will move to
the next level of evaluation. At this stage a sample will be requested and
will be evaluated against our rigorous Quality Assurance requirements. Once a sample
has been approved, your QVC Buyer will work with you to create a sales strategy
for your product, a purchase order will be written and you will ship your goods
to a designated QVC warehouse.
All shipments received by QVC must be individually
packaged, labeled, and shipped to our warehouse in accordance with QVC
shipping and packaging guidelines. This ensures our seven- to ten-day delivery
guarantee to our customers. Once the product has been processed through our
Quality Assurance stage and assigned a warehouse location, your product is
ready to make its on-air debut. It takes approximately three months to go from
purchase order to on-air appearance.
Is my product right for
QVC?
To answer that question, ask yourself the following
about your product: Does it:
- Demonstrate well?
- Solve a common problem or make life easier?
- Appeal to a broad audience?
- Have unique features and benefits?
- Is it topical or timely?
Additionally, exclusive product launches and unique
products offered for the first time are always of interest to QVC Viewers. Our
programming is thematic; a portion of our product selection criteria is based
upon how they will segment within our programs.
Is there a minimum quantity
of product that QVC buys?
Yes. Minimum initial purchase orders are usually not
less than $20,000 to $25,000 per individual item at its wholesale cost.
Can QVC test my product
regionally?
No. Unfortunately, we cannot. Our program is sent out
as one broadcast signal, to all 50 states, into 84 million homes,
simultaneously. It is not possible to do regional tests.
Can you put it on air and
I’ll ship you as many as you sell?
No. QVC ships 80% of our Customers packages within 24 hours. In order to maintain our high
Customer Satisfaction standards, in the vast majority of the cases, the entire ordered quantity must
be in QVC's warehouse before we will offer it to our Customers. Once that quantity is sold out, we’ll
stop selling it. However, there are rare exceptions, such as in the case of “Advanced
Order Only” products like sports championship tee shirts.
What is the lowest retail
price QVC accepts?
QVC prefers to air products with a selling price of
$15.00 or higher in order to maximize our airtime.
Is there a fee?
Absolutely not. QVC does not sell air time. As an
electronic retailer, QVC selects and purchases products for programming and
bears the expense of the live sell at our Studio Park facility.
What are QVC's Customer
demographics?
The demographic profile of QVC's customer base spans
all socioeconomic groups, and varies significantly depending on product
appeal. For instance, a cooking program like "In The Kitchen With Bob"
attracts men and women; an apparel hour draws a mostly female audience; "For
Race Fans Only", airing every Friday evening during race season, draws a
primarily male audience. QVC continually strives to expand its appeal to an
ever-broadening customer base by increasing the variety of products available
to our audience of over 84 million homes.
Are there product categories
QVC does not program?
Yes. At this time we have elected not to sell products
in the following categories: furs and fur-related products, guns and
gun-related products, subscriptions, personalized items, 900 phone programs,
service-related products, and products with bounce backs.
